Butters
Butters was a special, once in a lifetime boy. He was a big expressive golden-doodle that you couldn’t help but smile when you saw. He loved a good snow but also enjoyed swimming in the summer months. People would laugh at him swimming because he looked like a golden dolphin jumping in and out of the water until his paws couldn’t reach the bottom. He loved finding abandoned toys at the park close by and stealing them and running home. He was our own personal cardboard box shredder, making Christmas a favorite holiday of his. He also really enjoyed howling at trains. So much so that he would even do it as a party trick if you put a YouTube video of a train crossing on the TV. He was a mammas boy through and through. There are so many things I loved about Butters but what I loved the most was the unconditional love he so selflessly gave over 8.5 years. The transition from acute loss grief to a grief that will be with me for as long as I remember him is difficult but because of us, Butters never really had a bad day. What an honor it was being his mom, it would have never felt like enough time. After his passing, we have had a few neighbors who I don’t know even on a first name basis stop me and tell me how much they miss him.
