Lucy

Lucy was a force of love every day she lived, and we were lucky enough to be her family. From the moment she woke to the first snore at bedtime, her tail wagged – walks, car rides, snacks, playtime. Lucy volunteered at nursing homes and hospice facilities in her younger days, greeting everyone she met and snuggling with bedridden folks who were in their final days. At home, when we cried, Lucy would snuggle closely and rest her head on top of us, as if she were both comforting and protecting her vulnerable person.

And while she was a beacon of love her entire life, she absolutely hated horses, real and cartoon. It was a mystery.

Lucy, thank you for teaching me the strength and beauty of pure unconditional love, and for loving me through everything. I will treasure you all my life.
