Smokey

Smokey (aka Smokey-Bones, Mr. Smokey, Pocho, Paachi, Moko, Anumaki) was rescued when he was 2 years old by his Dad and Dad’s previous wife. Prior to adoption, Smokey took part in a prison inmate training program and was the most well-behaved, intelligent dog that you would ever meet! Shortly after his adoption, Smokey’s first Mom passed away. Smokey was a great source of comfort to his Dad and became his Dad’s best friend. In time, Smokey’s Dad remarried. Smokey and his Dad moved and started a whole new life! Smokey’s new Mom had always been a “cat person”, but getting to know Smokey changed that … she quickly grew to love Smokey more than she ever thought was possible! Smokey had an amazing, full life during the 11 years that he was on this earth. Being a Terrier Mix, he loved exploring his backyard with all its nooks and crannies and running “super speed”. He got a new toy for every single holiday and had more toys than he was able to play with. His all-time favorite toy was the “Hamburgler”. Smokey and his Mom had a tradition of doing a photo shoot for every holiday, complete with costumes, hats, and props. The best part of Smokey’s day was when his Daddy would arrive home from work and he could give him his “greeting”. Smokey was a homebody and was happiest at home hanging out with his Mom and Dad, however he did get the opportunity to go on numerous outings – trips to Michigan to visit Nana and Papa, trips to Grandma and Grandpa’s house, a trip to Cleveland/Cuyahoga Valley National Park where he had his first and only hotel stay, and a camping trip at Delaware State Park. Another notable moment in Smokey’s life was when his photo was featured in the July/August 2024 issue of a local magazine. Smokey has sent us several unquestionable signs that he is ok and doing well. It brings us comfort to know that he is in heaven with his first Mom Jamie, his siblings Chester, Kit Cat and Charlie, and his cousin Emme. Smokey was incredibly special and so very LOVED! He truly was the “Best Dog Ever”. He will be missed daily.

“His naaame is Smokey. He was a GOOD dog”.
