Isabelle
Our girl was so much more than a dog. She was our faithful and loyal family companion, a best friend, and a tender, irreplaceable piece of our hearts.
Her life began with much pain. When we got her from a rescue at just the age of one, she had already experienced a life full of abuse and neglect. Yet somehow she found her way to us. In our home she was cherished and deeply loved. She fought cancer once only to face it again at the young age of eight years old. Through every battle, she showed us her strength, was a fighter, and we are endlessly proud of her.
Bella (sometimes known as Izzy) loved her walks, chasing the bunnies in the yard, and also loved yapping at the occasional squirrels. She chased them as if she had a story to tell them if she ever caught up to them (or just a food thing 🙂 She loved us in her own special way, often from a distance, quietly keeping watch and making sure we were all happy without the need to be right beside us. Nothing delighted her more than the sound of someone coming through that front door. Every arrival was a celebration, and she welcomed each person as though they were the best part of her day.
Our hearts are completely shattered, as yesterday we had to give her one final gift of love. We helped her to cross peacefully so she would no longer have to struggle or hurt. It was an incredibly hard decision, but loving her meant knowing when it was time to let her rest. We held her close and chose peace for her, even though it has left our hearts aching.
We gave her the best life we could, and she gave us far more in return. She came to us with a story that began in pain, but together we filled the rest of her life with safety, warmth, laughter, and love.
Run free, sweet girl, and chase all the critters your heart desires. No more pain, no more fear, no more fighting; only peace. You will always be part of our family, always in our hearts, and forever missed in the spaces you once filled.
