Bennett

I’m not sure we’ll ever have another cat like Bennett.  He was uniquely fun, confident, feisty, and lovey with his people.  He wore his thoughts on his face in such a way as you could easily tell his reaction to anything, and it was usually hilarious.

In many ways, Bennett was the heart and soul of our home; he insisted on being in the center of just about everything going on regardless of how routine it was or was not.  Without exception, Bennett was there to greet us coming in the door and most certainly would not let any visitors disrupt or misplace him from his lounging routine.

He loved the Christmas tree and lounging under it, as if we put it up just for him to enjoy.  He had a variety of seasonal sweaters and other accessories and he wore them proudly and without complaint.  In warm weather, he loved supervised excursions on the patio and patrolling across our sitting wall looking out at the neighborhood as if he ruled over it.

As we found ourselves taking in kittens and growing our kitty family, Bennett became the most unlikely of daddy cats and insisted on being around the kittens in spite of not being quite as playful and mischievous as he used to be. He evolved as his age did.

I’ll miss him on my lap at night, crawling all over me when I’m having my morning coffee, walking across my keyboard when I’m working, and basically insisting on doing anything I’m doing.  Our entire home is mourning Bennett but we are so grateful for so many years of his life which will always be remembered for the fun and love we shared.
