Bijou

Her story with me began on November 16, 2012 when she was rescued at approximately 18 months old. She was quiet at first and played great with the rest of her siblings. She fit in effortlessly. Bijou was mischievous, sweet, sassy, and very silly. It took her 2 years to bark in front of me, and then she never stopped.
Bijou was fierce and always wanted her opinions known. She would do zoomies in our backyard with speeds that I think would have rivaled a Greyhound, she was a blur, in so many ways. She was also a sweetheart. She loved to snuggle and knew when her human was upset and would always come up to check on me with a kiss.
One time, she opened cat food cans like a human would have, it was both mind-boggling and hilarious. The first time she was left alone, she chose a DVD to obliterate all over the house. She had such strength and grit for a dog her size. She earned the nickname of Evil Genius due to her incredible intelligence and coy nature. She was also known as Salmon for her wiggly jumps, Log because she was short and solid, and B-Spot for reasons unknown.
Sadly, she lost the parent who was her person and I immediately took on that role for her in addition to the love of her life - her brother Thomas. She needed a confidence booster and Thomas provided that for her. He was always there when she was alone, sick, or sad; at mealtimes; during outside time for epic sniffs and exploring; on car rides, and all of the other sides of life. Thomas was her emotional support dog.
Bijou is exponentially loved and she always will be. Her name means Jewel in French and she was my diamond in the ruff. She was the first one at the door jumping and barking to welcome me home. The girl whose eyes would become like saucers when she received a treat or a new toy. The guard dog who thought she was bigger than she actually was. I already miss everything about her and always will. Her joy was infectious. Her appetite, relentless. Her love, boundless,
