Chunk

“The first moment I saw Chunk, I knew he would be my best friend. From the moment he opened his eyes, to the moment they shut – he and I shared an unbreakable bond that I could see every time he looked at me.

Despite being told no multiple times that we couldn’t have another dog, I had my eye set on him. Being part of a litter of seven, he was the only unique one without a similar colored sibling as he was the only one with a black face and golden red body . He had an oversized head, and was fluffy as can be. He was born the day before Thanksgiving, in the same hallway a few feet away from where he left this house for the last time.

It’s hard to put in writing what an impact this dog had on my life. From just having an off day to something really terrible – he was by my side through it all. He may not have understood it, but he knew that I needed comforting and was more than happy to offer it in the form of very awkwardly angled snuggles.

In all my life, I have never known such a gentle, kind and loving dog. He never once snapped, barked or even growled at anyone. He was an angel from the day he arrived to the day he finally spread his wings and went to reunite with his father. Coming home from work without him waiting for me has been one of the hardest things I’ve ever gone through, but I can be okay with the fact that that dog didn’t know a day of suffering, and was able to depart peacefully in my arms, same as the day he came to me. I know I’ll never forget the impact he made on me and my life since the moment he came into it all those years ago, and I’ll always cherish and remember all the time he and I spent together. I don’t think I’ll ever find another partner like you, Monkey.”

Buster

Buster From the time our daughter was five years old she wanted a puppy. I resisted, stating that a dog needs room to run, and our nice little spot in Grandview wasn’t enough space for a dog. We moved out of town to a great new place with less traffic, a big fenced in...

Oscar I tried to capture 19 years of our lives together in just a few photos. Oscar was a rambunctious, adventurous soul, and I feel so lucky that he was my first dog. We traveled the country together, hiked through many parks, and shared so many wonderful moments....
