Jet

On Christmas 2013 my wife and eldest daughter presented me with a cute 8 week old Cause for Paws rescue puppy.  I had been providing hospice care for Raquel’s mini pincher Nubi and they knew his loss had hit me hard.  My late father, who was visiting for the Holidays, immediately named our new black lab Jet after the first dog we had when I was a kid.

Six months later I was surprised again, but in the opposite way when I received a diagnosis of colon cancer. Barely surviving several surgeries, Jet transitioned into my therapy dog.  He is literally the reason I can still walk with CIPN.  He even accompanied Lilly and I on a Veterans Day 5 mile race and nearly all our GYRIG 5Ks.

Jet was kind to everyone including fellow pets in the neighborhood.  He especially loved our grandkids.  And he was completely overjoyed to run around in the Winter snows!

He always had fun at Pet suites for daycare and boarding.  Wasn’t too keen on Vet visits, but we appreciate the wonderful care provided by Easton Animal Hospital.

Which is why we are so Blessed to have found Kona’s so Jet could comfortably cross the rainbow bridge from his home surrounded by our love.  We will be eternally grateful to Dr. Bowers for her compassion to us and to our sweet boy.

The dignity you showed from lighting a candle to making paw prints gave us tremendous relief.  We were so honored that you wrapped him in his USAF blankie and gently tucked his favorite squeaky toy under his arm.

God Bless you for assisting us with such Grace during one of our most difficult days.

Mali

MaliThis was Mali on our last day with us. I took her outside to feel the warmth of the sun one more time. I share this image because you can still see the smile on her face. A face that is still eager to play, even though she physically couldn't. A face looking for...
