Milo
11/16/2009 – 11/25/2024
Milo was always our sweet, gentle soul. In all the years, we can count on one hand if he displayed any type of annoyance toward another dog, let alone anger. Even after a foster or his siblings jumped on his head, bit his neck fat, or stole his ball, he would remain unphased and so gentle.
In his youth, he enjoyed his frisbee being hurled across the backyard and would catch it with ease. Once his eyesight started to go, he turned to his trusty tennis ball. He would chase it until he made himself sick or couldn’t walk the next day. Once at a Speak for the Unspoken gathering, we thought we nearly killed him because he chased his ball so much he became delirious.
A close second to his frisbee or ball was food. He never tasted his food but rather Hoovered it up like a vacuum. Which typically resulted in a big burp afterward. I recall once, he burped but held it in his mouth, making his cheeks balloon out, looked us dead in the eye, and slowly blew the burp out while never losing eye contact. It’s probably the most bizarre but equally entertaining thing we have ever seen.
Something even more bizarre and spectacular was he had no brain. We would often tell him he was a miracle (and a circus freak) because he shook his head so hard his tiny brain flew out, yet somehow he was still functioning! He didn’t seem to care if we lovingly made fun of him, he loved us back no matter what.
He enjoyed numerous camping trips, multiple baseball games at the Clippers Stadium, a local polo match, ate countless corn muffins in Connecticut, won an ice cream eating contest at a festival once, had a ridiculous amount of colorful collars, and best of all, felt loved by everyone that knew him.
Rest in peace, our sweet, gentle boy, and tell Foxxy we love her.
