Tico
Tico (Apr 2012 - Oct 2026)
Story:
Tico has been with us since he was 12 weeks old. We got him and his brother as an 'empty nest' gift for my mom when I left for college. The woman who had him brought him and his brother to choose from, saying they were the last of the litter. We didnt expect to take two but we couldn't stand the thought of leaving one behind. They were so small, you could hold both with one hand.
During breaks and then after college, they were mine. They were with me my whole adult life. They were opposite in personality, with Tico being my shadow. He knew when I was sick, upset, happy, and everything in between. He supported me through all my hard days, loving all the different versions of me as I went through my 20's, and all the while he never once judged me or loved me less because of who I was.
Our bond grew every day we had each other. I felt so loved by my big 10lb baby. And everyone who met him loved him instantly. You couldn't help but love such a good natured and beautiful soul. His aging and health issues were difficult to accept, and though Tico was strong and always optimistic, they ultimately got the better of him. So at 14 1/2, we had to let our boy go so he can rest peacefully and painlessly. He now watches over and stays near us in spirit.
