Twinkie

Our beautiful Calico Twinkie recently stopped eating and after a visit to the vet, we were devastated to learn that she had terminal cancer. Twinkie LOVED to eat and to see her like this was heartbreaking. We didn’t her to suffer so we reached out to Konas Loving Paws to arrange to have her peacefully transitioned in her own home instead of at a Vet’s office.
Dr. Rikh was very kind and empathetic and we were able to go through the process on our patio. It was a nice evening, the birds were chirping and the whole family was there for her. She told us exactly how it would go and gave us all the time we needed to say goodbye to Twinkie.
Our kids were 6, 8 and 10 when we adopted her in 2011 and now the youngest child is in college. Twinkie was a constant presence for all of us as the kids grew up. She was loving and attentive and always wanted to be in the same room with anyone who was home, especially if they had food. I’ve been working from home for the past 12 years and I’ve kept a stool next to my desk for Twinkie. Most days, she would lay there next to me all day long. Her absence will take some getting used to.
