Willow

Valentines Weekend of 2013 I walked into a pet rescue event called “My Furry Valentine” looking for a buddy for my Lab Bailey. After holding and visiting with several puppies and dogs that seemed too aggressive for Baileys temperament, I noticed Willow across the aisle. She was so beautiful and when I walked Bailey over to her, they both acted like they already knew each other. Willow had been a farm dog in Pike county Ohio and was running away from her owners any chance she got until they finally just quit picking her up from the pound.
It’s funny as I say that, she never once tried to run away from me. She was my ride or die partner in the truck. Always up for a truck ride to sonic or the park. She was Bailey’s best friend and in May of 2021, when Bailey passed on, she didn’t eat for three days. She was as heart broken as I was. I told myself, leaving her alone wasn’t a good option. So I added Charlie and Lucy. Willow wasn’t impressed. She gave me the look more than a few times during those first few months. But she taught them how to act when strangers came over. She taught them the boundaries of our property and she taught them to play with each other and leave her be. lol
I’m blessed to have had her for as long as I did. It would have been selfish of me to try to keep her hanging on for one more day. She showed me yesterday that she had enough. She looked at me as if to say, ….. it’s time. I spent the day by her side today making sure she felt as much love from me as I did from her through the years.
She felt no pain as she passed. Im heartbroken but have such great memories. She gave the best hugs when I would get home from work. When we walked, she always stayed by my side. All she ever asked for was what she gave back ten fold. Love
I’ll miss you Willow Girl ( pronounced Wiwo Gir)

Buster From the time our daughter was five years old she wanted a puppy. I resisted, stating that a dog needs room to run, and our nice little spot in Grandview wasn’t enough space for a dog. We moved out of town to a great new place with less traffic, a big fenced in...
